Dutching Calculator
Split your stake across multiple selections to guarantee equal profit no matter which one wins
What is Dutching in betting?
Dutching is a betting strategy where you back multiple selections in the same event, distributing your total stake so that you win the same profit regardless of which selection wins. It was popularized by the legendary gambler Dutch Schultz and is widely used by professional bettors to exploit mispriced odds across bookmakers.
How does the Dutching formula work?
The calculator computes the implied probability of each selection (1 ÷ odds), sums them, and distributes the total stake proportionally. If the combined implied probability is below 100%, there is an opportunity to lock in a guaranteed profit.
Dutching Formula
Stake per selection = (Implied probability ÷ Sum of all implied probabilities) × Total stakePractical Example
You want to bet €100 on a 3-way market: Home at 3.00, Draw at 3.50, Away at 4.00. Combined implied probability: 33.3% + 28.6% + 25.0% = 86.9%. Since 86.9% < 100%, dutching is profitable. Each selection receives a proportional stake and every outcome pays the same — roughly €115, a €15 profit.
When should you use Dutching?
- ✓When the combined implied probability across selections is below 100%
- ✓When odds differ significantly across bookmakers for the same event
- ✓In markets with many outcomes (e.g. correct score, tournament winner)
- ✓As an alternative to arbitrage when you cannot cover all outcomes
Dutching vs Arbitrage
Arbitrage covers ALL possible outcomes to guarantee profit. Dutching covers a subset — selected outcomes you believe are mispriced. Dutching carries more risk but also higher potential returns and is easier to execute with fewer bookmaker accounts.
